This policy sets out requirements regarding copyright restrictions on the Allen Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (Allen CVB) official website.

Commercial use of the city’s website and contents contained herein is prohibited without advance, written permission from the Allen CVB. Viewers may print copies of information provided on the city’s website for personal use and may refer to city websites in documents.

Website Link Policy

This policy sets out requirements regarding linking from and to the Allen Convention & Visitor Bureau’s (Allen CVB) official website.

The Allen CVB website contains links to other sites and resources as a convenience to the viewer. The Allen CVB is not responsible for and accepts no liability for the availability of these outside resources. Linked websites are neither under the control of, nor maintained by the Allen CVB and the city is not responsible for the content of these websites, which can and do change frequently; nor for any internal links the displayed websites may contain. In addition, the inclusion of a linked website does not constitute an endorsement or promotion by the Allen CVB of any of these websites or materials found there.

Viewers should also be aware the Allen CVB is not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites when linked to them through the city’s website. Privacy Practices

This policy sets out the Allen CVB’s privacy practices regarding information collected from viewers on the CVB’s website.

The CVB’s privacy policy applies only to the CVB’s website. When a viewer follows a link to another website, this policy does not apply. Viewers should check the privacy policy of each of these other websites with regard to how they handle personally identifiable information.

The Allen CVB does not sell or rent personally identifiable information. Information provided to the Allen CVB, including emails, may be subject to the Texas Public Information Act and applicable federal legislation. Information regarding the Texas Public Information Act is available from the Attorney General of Texas website.

The Allen CVB’s website utilizes server logs and log analysis tools to create summary statistics about the use of the website. The summary statistics are used to determine what information is of most interest to viewers and functional performance.

For online forms, the viewer will be asked to enter certain personal information which will vary depending on the form. Whenever personal information is requested, there will be an indication of whether the disclosure of such information is mandatory or optional.

The city’s online surveys may ask for contact information and/or demographic information. The CVB uses contact data from surveys to identify who completes the survey. Demographic and profile data is used for compilation purposes pertaining to the survey subject matter only.

Except for law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual viewers of the city’s website or their viewing habits. The Allen CVB may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personally identifiable information to the appropriate enforcement agencies. The Allen CVB fully cooperates with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use the city’s services for or in connection with illegal activities. The city reserves the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities it, in good faith, believes to be unlawful.

For site security purposes, the Allen CVB has security measures in place to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this website are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

Social Media Policy

The Allen CVB uses social media channels as a service to the public. We make every effort to ensure the information we share is accurate; however, assessing the accuracy and reliability of information is the sole responsibility of the user. The Allen CVB’s website, VisitAllenTexas.com, remains the most current and official source for all news, information, and service alerts.

Requests for emergency services should be directed to 9-1-1 and not through social media.

Comment Moderation
To help keep discussions on-topic and neighborly, the Allen CVB reserves the right to remove comments that:

  • Are of a repetitive or “spamming” nature (the same comment or content posted multiple times, either on the same post or on multiple posts);
  • Promote, endorse, or solicit commercial services, products or entities;
  • Contain threatening, violent, obscene, or pornographic content and/or language*;
  • Promote discrimination of state and/or federal-protected classes.
  • Promote or encourage illegal activity;
  • Contains information that may compromise the safety, and security of the public or public systems;
  • Contains information that directly interferes with or compromises ongoing investigations, public safety tactics, or the safety of public safety officers;
  • Contain personally identifiable information or sensitive personal information that, if released, violates state or federal law;
  • Violate the legal ownership interest of another party; or
  • Clearly violate the social media site’s term of service

All comments are public and subject to public disclosure. Your participation is at your own risk, and users are personally responsible for their comments, photos, username, and any other information provided. The views and comments expressed on social media sites only reflect those of the comment’s author, and do not necessarily reflect the official view of the Allen CVB, its elected or appointed officials and employees, or its departments.

We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every comment right away, and trust in our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely.

Linking
Links from social media sites/pages operated by the Allen CVB to any other websites do not constitute or imply endorsement by the Allen CVB of those sites, their content, or products and services associated with those sites.

Privacy notification
Posts and comments on social media sites/pages operated by the Allen CVB are public and may be viewed by all visitors. Therefore, users should be careful about posting any private or personally identifiable information and limit such information to the minimum necessary to communicate their message. Public information
Content and comments on the Allen CVB social media sites/pages constitute public information subject to the Texas Public Information Act. Public information requests will be handled in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act.

Records retention
Content of the Allen CVB’s social media sites/pages constitute public records subject to Texas records retention requirements and shall be retained and archived as such.

Third-party website policy
The social media sites/pages employed by the Allen CVB are hosted by third parties, and in addition to the policies of the Allen CVB, the use of those sites is governed by the social media providers’ respective privacy policies and terms of service.
