Something Delicious on the Rise

Posted on July 12, 2016 at 1:18 PM by Cambria Jones

When Rise Biscuits & Donuts decided to come to Texas, they knew exactly where they wanted their first location to be. “Allen is our home. We love Allen,” said Dax and Brandy Fergurson, owners of the Rise location coming to town this fall. We sat down with the husband and wife team to get the scoop on what we can expect from the North Carolina based restaurant known for “serving the best dang biscuits & donuts.”

One glance at the menu and you’ll see this is not your average donut shop. (Warning, you may not want to look on an emRise- Maple Bacon Barpty stomach. Growling may occur).
Rise will be serving up your favorite old school donuts like plain glazed and sprinkles with vanilla icing. Plus, some new school flavors like Dax’s favorite, the maple bacon bar. Wonder what this is? Picture this (or really take a look at the picture), a bar-shaped donut topped with maple-flavored icing and finished with, as Brandy describes, “a serious strip of maple bacon, not a wimpy piece.”  We know that alone is mouth-watering, but we couldn’t stop there.

Rise Chicken BiscuitWhen asked about her favorite menu item, Brandy had biscuits on the brain. The Rise chicken biscuit to be exact. This is a battered fried piece of chicken on a homemade biscuit dressed with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, bacon or whatever you like.  Dax added that, “being here in the South, I think one of the big hits is going to be the chicken fried steak biscuit.” They take a biscuit, slice it in half, and sandwich a good piece of chicken fried steak topped with peppered gravy in between.  Mmmm.

As if the menu isn’t delicious enough, Rise will also create specialty offerings each month based on customer suggestions. You can get in on the fun and make the combination you’ve been dreaming of come to life. “Interacting with the community is what we’re most excited about,” agreed Dax and Brandy.

Construction has started and we can practically smell the dough already. So, we won’t have to wait long for these sweet and savory breakfast and lunch (or even brunch if that’s more your style) options.
