We sat down with Michael Rowley, who recently returned to Allen as Director of Sales at the Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Allen at the John Q. Hammons Center, to learn more about him and the exciting changes happening at the hotel. Having been here before, Michael didn’t waste any time getting back into the swing of things. “In addition to promoting the incredible service and beauty of our hotel, I am excited about being back and helping raise the profile of our city,” Michael shared.
With several years of experience in the hospitality industry, Michael has identified whatmakes his job great. “Without a doubt, what I like most about my job is the people. I really enjoy meeting and forming relationships with everyone from hotel associates to clients, guests, and event attendees. Working for this organization has been great. John Q Hammons Hospitality definitely has a family atmosphere. They care about their associates and go out of their way to ensure our happiness,” Michael said with all smiles.
While he has had success throughout his career, Michael shared that his proudest moment has been receiving his current role. “Knowing that I have the trust and support of those I look up to within our company is a great feeling,” he shared.
When asked about how he approaches his role as Director of Sales, Michael shared that he focuses on listening. He believes that in order to be a good leader, he must hear and understand what others are saying. This is very apparent as he works with clients. Once he listens to the needs of a planner, he can address their needs with the saying of one of his previous GMs in mind. “Every hotel can offer chicken and chairs, let me show you how we are different.”
The team at Courtyard Allen prides itself in being different by offering a superior level of service and always keeping up with the times. One of the ways they’re keeping things current is through a complete renovation of the property. The entire hotel will be upgraded, including guestrooms, ballroom and the bistro area. Renovations are well underway and we can already tell the outcome will be beautiful.
Each detail has been planned with the guests in mind. As we walked through the Bistro, Michael shared “in addition to a new look, the Bistro will feature a full hot breakfast buffet making service to our guests much easier. We will also expand the seating near the bar area to accommodate more happy hour visitors.” We’ll cheers to that!
As for the 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, “all of the space will be updated. Everything from carpet to wall vinyl and banquet chairs to reader boards will be brand new. It will be the same great service presented in a fresh look,” Michael assured us.
All of the renovations are scheduled to be completed by the end of October, with a re-grand opening celebration in November. We can’t wait to check out the completed project. We’re planning to stay tuned and we hope you will too.
