Allen CVB Welcomes City-Wide Conference, Texas Association of Future Educators

ALLEN, Texas (February 25, 2019) – The Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) is excited to welcome the first city-wide event of 2019, the Teach Tomorrow Summit, Feb. 27-March 2 at the new Watters Creek Convention Center. The Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) will bring more than 2,500 junior and senior high school students along with 250 Texas educators to meet in Allen for their annual conference.

Created in 1984, TAFE encourages students to learn about careers in education and assists them in exploring the teaching profession while promoting character, service and the leadership skills necessary for becoming future educators.

“We are excited to welcome our first large convention to the new Delta Hotel and Watters Creek Convention Center. Hosting Texas high school students exploring a career in education is a great way to kick-off activities at this new facility and we welcome them to experience Allen,” said Allen Mayor Stephen Terrell.

In addition to educational sessions and exhibits, conference attendees will participate in a variety of competitive events.

ACVB helped secure the city as the location for this year’s conference, bringing with it an increase in tourism spending.

“This conference involves seven Allen hotels and is expected to generate approximately $400,000 in direct economic impact between the hotel rooms, shopping and dining that will take place right here in Allen,” said ACVB Director Karen Cromwell.
