Allen's 2020 Recap!

Hindsight is always 2020, but in case you didn’t see some of the exciting new places to grab much-needed drinks, some of the best eats, and entertainment for the whole family, this is 2020, the highlights. And your ultimate sneak peek into what’s coming in 2021!

Pinkies Up to 2021!

2020 will be known and remembered for a lot of things! But in Allen, 2020 will be remembered for #BobaCulture. You can experience this popular craze by visiting Boba Republic, known for their Instagram worthy drinks and natural bamboo straws. While you’re there, give their Vietnamese coffee a taste. If the smooth, silky, and sweet taste doesn’t make you come back for more, ask one of the #BobaCulture experts to whip up a drink you’ll be sure to come back for. #BobaCulture doesn’t stop there. Visit the quaint boba shop, With Milk, serving a variety of expertly measured and mixed boba teas, milks, and coffees. Grab a cup or bowl of their house-made gelato or the fan-favorite – the Green Island Latte and take one more picture in front of their iconic, neon “Always with milk” sign.

Need a drink that’s more sophisticated than sweet? Grab a seat where modern and upscale meet at Peppersmash Craft Bar and Kitchen. Sip on a ‘Firm Handshake’ featuring fistful bourbon, and snack on the charcuterie board filled with favorites like the chef’s rotating meat and cheese selection, duck liver mousse, pimento cheese, and pickled vegetables.

Foodie Flashback

Bengal BayFoodies, if you love a fun twist on southern favorites, you won’t be able to get enough of Ellen’s. They welcomed us last summer with open arms and a pancake pot pie: bacon, sausage gravy, hash browns, and eggs all layered over a pancake. See, some great things came out of 2020. If your tastebuds would rather head east, make Bengal Bay Grill your destination for house-made naan bread, Tandoori cuisine, and the “best-prepared chicken sandwich in America” (yes, Chick-Fil-A lovers, you heard right).

2021, Bring on the Fun!

Stir up the fun at Flour Power - a Kids Cooking Studio! Kids of all ages can learn the necessary kitchen skills to become future Michelin star chefs...or at least great sous-chefs for Sunday dinners at home. Prepare to turn the kitchen into a science lab when participating in themed lessons that mix cooking with science. Adults, there’s enough fun to go around for you too. Put your skills to the test in a Chopped-inspired competition, cook and sip on a bottle of wine at a girl’s night outing, or indulge in a romantic date night while kneading homemade pasta. But, if chopping fruit falling from the sky with a samurai sword is more your speed, make your way to VR Trip Dallas at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, where you can immerse yourself in real-life Fruit Ninja. Visitors of all ages can put the headset on and enter a virtual world of their choosing. Fight off zombies, discover hidden treasure, or race in the only I-Racing experience in Allen.

After its successful pop-up shop debut in late 2019, Birds and Words {a Home Boutique} officially opened its second location in Allen early 2020 - bringing rustic DIY treasures to Allen in an all-new way. Season after season, they continue to amaze us with crafted goodies, hand-painted decor, and unique finds.

Rosa's CafeEnjoy food that not only tastes good, but makes you feel good too at Original ChopShop located at Stacy Green. From protein bowls piled with vegies to fresh juices and smoothies, Original Chop Shop is just the place to fuel up all year round - no matter your dietary needs. Order your authentic Tex-Mex on the go through the drive-thru or dine in to take full advantage of their salsa bar to top off any Mexican plate with “mouth-watering zest”!

Crumbl Cookies

The next place needs no introduction after one bite of these sweet treats. Cumbl Cookies was added to Allen’s collection of desserts last summer, and we haven’t stopped eating them since. Find your favorite with rotating weekly flavors like the frosted Circus Animal cookie, or get a taste of a Girl Scout special, Crumbl’s take on Samoas, a chilled cookie piled with a buttery, caramel coconut topping, drizzled with chocolate. The list goes on!

Mutt's We’re excited to announce a dog park is coming to Allen. But, not just any dog park. Mutt’s Canine Cantina is a dog park, restaurant, and bar all in one. Purchase a day pass where your pup can run around leash-free, and you can enjoy a Mutt Burger and Barkarita. Grab a seat on the patio this spring in the heart of the Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm shopping center, just in time to order your dog a pupscicle for the warm weather.

The Farm Allen

Allen’s shopping, dining, and entertainment scene is only getting bigger, with one of the most anticipated experiences coming soon. THE FARM is a 135-acre, mixed-use development coming to the southeast corner of the Sam Rayburn Tollway and Alma Drive. When complete, it will include parks, trails, and a lake with overlook seating and dining adjacent to West Lake Park. But that’s not all. Enjoy live music, televised sports, and movies on the big screen at The Hub, 2.67-acres of covered lawn space surrounded by dining in the center of THE FARM.
