The Miss Texas Organization was looking for a new location to host the Miss Texas and Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen Competitions. In addition to hosting 8 separate productions over the course of a week, the list of special requirements including broadcasting capabilities; dressing rooms with mirrors and lighting; 1,047 guest rooms over a six day span; a designated area where contestants could receive deliveries of gifts and flowers; and an opportunity for community outreach. It was clear that it was going to take a special place to host this crowning event.

The Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau worked closely with the event organizers and key decision makers as well as Allen Event Center staff to secure the winning bid to host the pageant at the state-of-the-art Allen Event Center. The 188,000 square foot facility was able to meet and exceed the list of special requirements and unique needs.
With ample power aptitude and rigging capabilities that surpass those of other arenas, the lighting and broadcasting specifications for the events were handled with ease. Additionally, two 15 by 15 foot tents outfitted with 80 lighted mirrors and dressing stations were set up back of house to serve as dressing rooms for the contestants.
In addition to housing the contestants, the Courtyard by Marriott was able to designate one of their ballrooms as an area to house the many bouquets and gifts that the contestants received throughout the week.
As part of their community outreach to gain awareness for the Miss Texas Organization as well as the scholarship pageant, the contestants participated in a fashion show at The Village at Fairview. Appearances around Allen included attendance at the annual Market Street Allen USA Celebration during the week of competitions.
