Charting the Course
The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) was searching for a location to host their 2012 Annual Conference. Comprised of school finance and operations officials from across the state, the annual conference has nearly 1,000 attendees. They needed a large space for general sessions, breakout space for more than 180 educational sessions, a vendor exhibit space, and a unique and entertaining location to host the annual banquet.
The Courtyard by Marriott served as the host hotel for TASBOs annual conference. In addition to providing nearly 300 rooms over the course of three nights, one of the ballrooms at the Courtyard served as the perfect exhibit hall for the 200 or more vendors. For the banquet, Topgolf offered a unique and entertaining environment. With its modern take on a driving range, interactive games and a banquet room that overlooks the golfing bays, the group enjoyed an atmosphere of mixing, mingling, and playing.
“We hosted the TASBO Summer Conference to showcase all the great things that AISD and the City of Allen have to offer visitors,” said Mark J. Tarpley, AISD assistant superintendent of finance and operations. “Over the three days, approximately 1,000 school finance personnel trained in state-of-the-art educational facilities and experienced great family entertainment in the evenings.”
