K9 Trials | Visit Allen TX CVB

Time for your team to compete? We’re up to the challenge!

Allen went to the dogs - and we had their tails wagging - when 50 police canine and handler teams came to Allen for the National Railway Police K9 Trials. For the past 10 years, this annual canine competition has been held in Allen as part of the International Association of Chiefs of Police meeting.

The canine event is held at the Allen Police Department’s K9 training facility and attracts competitors from across the U.S. The competition is judged by nationally certified K9 officers from Allen, Plano and Richardson and offers the K9 teams the opportunity to train together and to showcase their skills. While the K9 officers were busy competing, the police chiefs from the 13 participating railroads were all about business at their spring meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn.
With competitors coming from as far as New York and Washington, Allen’s central location made it easy for everyone to come together. Of course, our multiple dog-friendly hotels; more than 200 restaurants; and family-friendly amenities like Topgolf and world-renowned shopping - including Cabela’s - have kept the K9 teams, and their families, coming back for the past 10 years.

“While this might not be the typical group that comes to Allen for an event, the K9 Trials really highlights the diversity of the organizations that choose to hold their events here and the flexibility of our hotels and meeting spaces to accommodate a wide variety of events,” said Allen Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Karen Cromwell.
