I always knew the teen years would be a wild ride, but I didn’t expect to be the one doing all the driving. Literally. 🚗💨
My teen has a social calendar busier than mine ever was. It’s filled with group hangouts, Friday night football games (proud drill team mom here!), birthday dinners, movie nights, and early morning practices. And she can’t drive. So, guess who’s the dedicated chauffeur? Yep. Me. 🤪
Coordinating all of this? It’s basically professional meeting and event planning. Time slots to align, locations to confirm, reminders to send, last-minute changes that throw everything off. Getting three teens to a movie on time, snack money in hand, and in the right pickup order? That’s not parenting. That’s a board meeting! I’m the event coordinator, executive assistant, and transportation lead all rolled into one.
Moms and planners speak the same language. Quick, essential communication. Anticipating needs. Confirming details. “Did you make it there?” = “Did attendees check in?” “Who else is going?” = “Which VIPs confirmed?” “Do you have money for snacks?” = “Is catering on budget?” My calendar is color-coded. My car is stocked with hoodies and water bottles. And yes, the unpredicted delays still happen.
Mobile multitasking is my superpower. Emails sent from the car. Permission slips filled out between Zoom calls. Even a show or two watched while parked outside dance practice. But here’s the thing, as exhausting as it can be, I wouldn’t trade it. Buried in all the chaos are the little moments that count: music blasting, quick school drama debriefs, laughter, Gen Z slang tutorials, or just peaceful drives where I get to think and she scrolls.
Meeting planners know this too. Beneath the logistics, last-minute changes, and juggling schedules are the moments that matter: meaningful connections, aha moments, shared laughs, and quiet conversations. Planning isn’t just about details. It’s about creating the space for those experiences to happen.
So here’s to all the moms keeping carpool, homework, and life running smoothly. And to all the planners making every event feel seamless…I see you. Attendees will remember the magic you made possible, just like our kids will remember how we kept their world spinning. ✨
