Hike and Bike Trails in Allen TX

Hike, bike, jog or run along any of our scenic park trails. Allen has more than 60 miles of paved hike and bike trails and continues to develop a comprehensive city-wide trail system each year.  Several segments of Allen’s trails have been developed to provide art, history and engaging experiences such as Cottonwood Creek Trail and Historic Water Station Trail.

Cottonwood Creek Trail 7.5 Miles / Concrete Trail

Trail End Points: Ridgeview Rd. and Cottonwood Creek and Heritage Park

Cottonwood Creek Trail | Allen TX Trails

The northern section begins at Ridgeview Drive, just south of the Sam Rayburn Tollway. From there, this 3.4-mile section follows the tree-lined Cottonwood Creek south along residential neighborhoods. At Stacy Road, travelers will come to a park with a playground, tennis court and parking area. Shortly after crossing under US 75, the trail passes the Old Stone Dam, built in 1874 by the Houston and Texas Central Railway Company to provide water for steam locomotives. The final leg of this paved pathway traverses Allen Station Park, which offers athletic fields, a playground, skate park, BMX track and roller hockey rinks.


Rowlett Creek Trail 7.3 Miles / Concrete Trail

Rowlett Creek Trail Allen TX

The Rowlett Creek Trail matches the course of its namesake waterway. The trail starts at Bolin Park and heads west, then the trail begins to meander north before coming to a fork. The west branch winds along West Rowlett Creek and divides again and again, with the furthest one reaching SR 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway). The east branch heads up through the Golf Club at Twin Creeks, across Exchange Parkway, then under Ridgeview Drive up to SR 121.

Watters Branch Trail Allen, TX

The Watters Branch Trail travels through upscale neighborhoods and wooded riparian areas. The main segment begins at Ridgewood Drive near a parcel of undeveloped parkland and travels south more than 4 miles to Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm. The sprawling 52-acre mixed-use complex offers a variety of shopping and dining options. Another segment exists north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway. It runs from Henneman Way north through the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch.

Allen has four various types of parks throughout our community. Neighborhood parks, community parks, special use parks, and greenbelts that make up an impressive spectrum of outdoor recreation. There are several of our parks and facilities that have become staples in our community and draw thousands of visitors regionally each year. 

The Edge Skatepark

The Edge Skatepark - Visit Allen Texas

Located on the south end of Allen Station Park, the Edge Skatepark and visitor center complex features a concrete skate park, two roller-hockey rinks, BMX track and Visitor Center. The skate park is now the largest outdoor facility of its kind in the state and best of all, use of the park is free!

KidMania Playground and Sprayground

Operated by Allen Parks and Recreation, the kidMania sprayground at Celebration Park gives children aged 2 to 12 a fun place to get wet and appropriately wild. The sprayground and adjacent playground are handicap accessible, ensuring no one misses out on the fun. After you dry off, check out the sports fields or the hike and bike trails.

Connemara Nature Preserve

Connemara Nature Preserve | Visit Allen Texas

Open to the public daily from dawn until dusk, the Meadow represents 72 acres of natural habitat, rich in floral diversity that is reminiscent of the tall grass Blackland Prairie that once existed here. The Meadow is made available to the public as a place to revive the spirit while teaching the importance of nature and biodiversity in the world where we live. Please note that to minimize the impact on nature, no bikes or motorized vehicles are allowed in the preserve. Dogs are allowed by permit only.

The Courses at Watters Creek

The Courses at Watters Creek is home to not just one course but a venue that includes multiple courses designed by 10-time PGA Tour and Champions Tour winner, D.A. Weibring. If you’re no pro, no worries! The Courses aren’t just for pros. With an 18-hole, nine-hole and six-hole course, there are enough options that players of all skill levels will find a good challenge. 

Redesigned to be more accessible to all players, these courses are catered to your length of play and skill level which make for the perfect golf experience.

  • The Traditions Course - This stunning 18-hole course is great for just about any golfer at any skill level. 
  • The Futures Course - The 6-hole short course (6-holes, Distance of holes between 40 and 100 yards)  is laid out for regular players to perfect their short games and for new players to ease into the game of golf with a nonthreatening, enjoyable experience. 
  • The Players Course - The 9-hole course is perfect for the experienced golfer. The Players Course includes 9-holes, Par 30. 
Practice Facility
The Courses at Watters Creek is proud to have one of the BEST Short Game practice facilities in DFW. This Short Game facility boasts three chipping greens surrounded by five bunkers of various depths with grass hollows and hillocks. There is fairway cut and rough cut grass to practice out of every type of lie. In the Short Game area, you can improve your scoring ability from 25 yards and in, making it the best training and practice facility to increase your chances to score!

The Courses at Watters Creek offers the best in golf equipment and apparel to compliment your game. Stop by their fully-stocked Pro Shop before or after your round. Nearly every day of the week, Grill 33 is open serving up your favorites. Tuesday – Sunday, come in and relax with your favorite beverage from the fully stocked bar. The Pavilion is an ideal location to host a Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation or Holiday Event. The room features a great view of the golf course, state of the art audio/visual equipment and seating for 140+ guests.

The Golf Club at Twin Creeks' expansive golf practice facility is an ideal locale for perfecting every aspect of your game in a peaceful, serene ambience. Enhance your swing mechanics on our all-grass driving range, or fine-tune your short game on our large putting green, chipping green or practice bunker. We also offer a junior 3-hole practice course for young golfers and beginners.

A beautiful clubhouse encompasses men's and women's locker rooms, delicious dining, a world-class golf shop, and beautifully-appointed banquet and meeting space - accommodating groups of all sizes and types for weddings, golf tournament banquets, fundraising events, holiday celebrations, business functions, and other special occasions.
